(due to high demand in English, currently no therapy in German offered)
Life presents challenges every day. While some are exciting and stimulating, others can feel scary, painful, confusing, or frustrating. I provide support in navigating difficult transitions, assistance in decreasing stress, and creating opportunities for growth and healing via:
- Personal counseling for individuals, couples and families
- Coaching and consultation
Common themes are cultural adjustment, depression, anxiety, eating and body issues and trauma.
Payment can also be arranged via insurance.
In my work I draw on cognitive behavioral therapy, ACT (Acceptance Commitment Therapy), EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), mindfulness, body awareness and creative expression.
I will explore with you the link between your thoughts, feelings and behaviors to provide insight into your patterns. We then evaluate which are or are not helpful for you now. We also consider possible historical connections to these old patterns and how these "personal stories" were created and reinforced.
We then use a range of exercises from body awareness, writing, creative activities and talking to increase your awareness and expression of current feelings and thoughts.
The goal is to connect with your own voice and strengthen your abilities to make active choices about how you respond to the present, thereby developing your own "story" for the future.
Although Dutch by nationality, I lived a significant portion of my life in the United States. There I completed my education, began my career, and met my Swiss husband. Together we returned to Europe. We finally settled and started a family in Switzerland.
